It was so much easier when they were little kids.
It seemed like you could fix any problem with Band-Aids, ice cream, or hugs.
But those things aren’t working anymore.
You remember when they were so easy to talk to. They used to tell you everything—from the smallest details about their lunchroom conversations to their biggest stressors about friendships or tests.
Now they’re distant. It feels like you barely know them.
The most you get from them now are “I’m fine!” and school was “good.”
And when you try to pry deeper, they completely shut you out.
But you know something is bothering them.
You feel helpless as you think about the vibrant personality and glowing smile they had as a child.
It’s so frustrating… because you just want to help!
Don’t they realize that you love them more than anything in the world? You’re the one who would do anything for them!
You’ve even been where they are!
But for some reason, they’re pushing you away.
You are frustrated, but you’re also worried.
If they won’t let you in, who else might step in to help them?
What If they can’t get through these issues?
What if they don’t have the skills they need?
That’s where I come in!
I get it.
You see their potential so vividly. Naturally, you want to be the best you can be for them.
You wish they could see themselves as you see them: special, important, and powerful.
Through individual therapy, your teen will become their confident, funny, and life-loving self again!
What does therapy look like?
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
This is an evidence-based practice that helps teens process, cope with, and communicate their negative feelings so that they can change their behaviors. CBT is the most researched form of therapy, and it’s a proven method for treating teens with emotional and behavioral issues.
Your teen will get a safe place to process their emotions and struggles. After all, treatment for teens is only successful when they feel safe and trust you enough to talk about their deepest worries and fears. No one wants to talk to a STRANGER about that stuff! As our therapeutic relationship develops, your teen will feel more and more comfortable opening up to talk about what’s going on inside.
They’ll also learn skills to manage their emotions in healthy ways. As treatment progresses and they get better at processing their feelings, your teen will be able to develop goals for their behaviors.
They’ll also develop communication skills so that they can share their struggles and feelings with you—minus the yelling and icy attitude.
Animal-Assisted Therapy
Because why not play with a dog during counseling sessions?
The presence of a registered therapy animal in sessions has proven benefits: increased trust and comfort, decreased anxiety, increased serotonin levels (happy emotions), increased sense of social support, and much more.
